## Reading the numbers

- A seat headline (winner, votes, margin) is always the ECI final count. Booth rows come from Form 20; when the two do not agree the seat page says so, and nothing is silently corrected.
- Booth totals exclude postal votes, which are counted only at seat level.
- Deposit: a candidate keeps the deposit with more than one-sixth of the valid votes polled in the seat.
- Kingmaker booth: a booth where NTK polled more votes than the gap between the leader and the runner-up (NTK not leading).
- Party short names in Tamil: தவெக = TVK, திமுக = DMK, அதிமுக = AIADMK (ADMK), நா.த.க = NTK.
